Just tuned in (from central London, in the West London Branch) having seen a reference to the festival this week. Sorry to have missed it (I was NE for a few days to March 31st), though it's sad that there has been no real ale regularly in the Union Building for many years. Paul Needham, and others who founded the Real Beer and Ale Society (I still have my mug somewhere) in around 1974, will be incandescent. We fought long hard battles to get some decent beer in, and left an inheritance (and two good cellarpersons) in charge c. 1980/81 ........

Not a great start!

The good news is that the Delaval Arms is still open and has just won Pub of the Year for South East Northumberland. It's future is still uncertain but there is a great article about the pub in today's Journal.

I will contact them about the website and get them to update it. If necessary I will remove the link from the branch webpage
