Hi all, just to finalise the situation. I believe we have about 8 or 9 of the local micro brewers who have produced a brand new beer for this mini festival, or should I say feast to showcase their collective skills in this fine old craft.

Details are out and about, papers, posters etc etc.

The venues on the May Holiday weekend 3rd, 4th, and 5th are;

well it has been a great pleasure to welcome mark horn as the new tennant of the old fox and the idea of having extra hand pumps free of camrons tie. and some varried ale. here in the felling.

while here at the wheatsheaf we still have the ever present.

plus normally one other big lamp beer on sale.

belgian and check beer in bottles also available.

Hi all I am Mark formerly of the Alum Ale House in South Shields.

I have just taken over the lease of the Old Fox in Felling.

On top of the five hand pulls I have at the moment, another two are being installed next week.

Two handpulls will have Camerons beers on the other five are free of tie so any beer's you want on just pop in and ask I will do my best to get them for you !!.

My main aim is to to get the fox back to what it used to be in the past for real ales.

what is happening ? according to the Journal Mordue brewery is in administation but no news of this on this website, strange, maybe Mordue Breweries or the North East Brewing Company will continue to produce such good beers in the future, we shall have to wait and see

Make a note in your diaries, the 32th Newcastle Beer Festival will be open to the public from Wednesday 2nd April to Saturday 5th April 2008, at the Union Society, Newcastle University, King's Walk, Newcastle upon Tyne.

The capacity for next year's festival is being increased 25% by the use of additional space within the building. Other planned changes should also see extra beers and a seperate, larger cider bar. Full details will be made available nearer the event at www.cannybevvy.co.uk

Hello to you all, hope you are enjoying the start of British Summer time. The snow serves as a good reminder of our climate.

Anyway, it's nice when you are tucked up in the warm pub and enjoying a pint of good real beer, preferably from your Newcastle based brewery, Hadrian and Border.

First sail down the Tyne,turn left at Tynemouth,head due north for 46 miles, weigh anchor wade in and your there,alternately there is a bus every blue moon or, last but not least take the train to Alnmouth then hitch.

Not the easiest of places to get to there is a bus from Newcastle to Berwick maybe the 501 best check it out,but not sure of the frequency,make sure you have a wee before you leave though.

Most embarrassing ,we have had to order in some beer as ours is moving so quickly, ...

Unfortunately or in my case fortunately the brewery has bugger all to do with me I only design build and brew the new beers but this time i do get paid for my trouble! the brewery is in a very sensitive area hence the secrecy and i am not obliged to say anything at the moment,the beers will be exclusive to the pub and I'm afraid you will have to travel to obtain them.I am now in the very lucky situation of getting paid for doing my hobby in one of the most beautiful places in Northumberland.

The three Newcastle HoS pubs are to hold a festival of North Eastern beers featuring every local brewery but, probaby not, the newly revived Barefoot.

The Cluny will have every one of the beers available over the coming month. These will be the beers which are regularly brewed, so you probably won�t see the latest Legend of the Tyne (or Wear) or the latest footballer�s hair style. However, on my list there�s already ...

Unable to get Elton John to cut the ribbon on the 8th as he was opening a new chip shop in North Walbottle, by chance pint size celebrity Jimmy Crankie was having a spot of lunch in the pub.On sampling the new beer he was herd to utter "jangs this is fandabbiedozy" and has agreed to do the honers.

There seemed to only be a few issues last year.

I spent time in November with our BLO and put together an article for the December issue. It featured certain items pertaining to Christmas, as well as other things.

Its now the second half of January.

Morning all, just to let you know this months special ale will be NORTHUMBERLAND GOLD, at 4.5% ABV. order soon if you want some, as it is going out quickly as we speak. It was last brewed about a year ago.

Also, our tremendously popular TYNESIDE BLONDE is now featured in the very prestigious venue THE SAGE, in Gateshead. We look forward to seeing how popular this is, as a local ale should be a feature here.

Regular Beers : Auld Hemp, Nel�s Best, Matfen Magic

The latest new beer from the brewery, Ferocious Fred. is doing extremely well, and the brewery is receiving a lot of demand for it. Steve describes it as �a milk porter, very dark amber coloured, almost black, with a thick tan head. The nose is of chocolaty roasted, nutty toffee and spicy notes. A full bodied, smooth almost velvet texture. Tastes very much like it smells, with a pleasing sweetness�.

Nobody said there were no hops any more ,but have found out that lots of brewers have their backs to the wall are are not as helpful to one another as they once were(no names),should have the first brew going through on Friday all be it with new hops which means old beers prob gone forever but ,this gives a new challenger(hop joke)

The Clarendon (Bull Lane)

As stated at the last Camra regional meeting the Clarendon in Sunderland, home of the Bull Lane brewery was suffering trade loss due to the smoking ban and cheap supermarket sales. As of 07.01.07 the pub now only trades on home Sunderland matchdays (11:00-20:00 sat, 16:00-20:00 midweek) and on Sundays when their is a band on (12:00-19:00). See local press for band coverage.

This will be reviewed when the warmer(?) weather arrives.

Next band on is The Stotting Headaches on Sunday 20th Jan ...

For those of you who don't know them here are the details of an up-coming event which I think is deserving of support:

It will take place from Thurs. 7th Feb. to Sun. 10th February 2008; the same dates, I know, as the Newcastle Arms beer festival, and follow the same format as last year's successful event.

There should be 20 or so real ales available, all named after animals, and an extra temporary bar counter installed in the public bar.
