As the Brewery Liaison Officer for High House Farm, I would like to congratulate Steve and Sally for reaching the 5th anniversary of High House Farm Brewery. To celebrate the occasion, Steve has brewed a new beer, 5th Anniversary Ale, to be launched at this year's Newcastle Beer Festival. The beer is a 3.5% ABV dark mild, and, if the rest of High House Farm's beers are anything to go by, will be a lovely smooth easy-drinking beer. Also available will be another newish beer, Ferocious Fred, a ...

Regular Beers : Auld Hemp, Nel’s Best, Matfen Magic

The latest new beer from the brewery, Ferocious Fred. is doing extremely well, and the brewery is receiving a lot of demand for it. Steve describes it as “a milk porter, very dark amber coloured, almost black, with a thick tan head. The nose is of chocolaty roasted, nutty toffee and spicy notes. A full bodied, smooth almost velvet texture. Tastes very much like it smells, with a pleasing sweetness”.

Here is the brewery report for July.

Sales of both casks and bottles are continuing to grow at a very pleasing rate. Cyril the Magnificent, brewed as a special for Newcastle Beer Festival, has proved so popular that it has been brewed again, and all of the second brew has been sold. Hopefully, due to it's 5.5 ABV strength, another brew will be done in November to warm up those cold winter months.

The brewery was very pleased to win the Silver Award for the Beer of the Festival at Newcastle, ...

Not much to report this month.

The owners, Steve and Sally Urwin have been concentrating on their new baby daughter, Lily Jill, born on 21st January, so, understandably, the brewery has been left to tick over for a while!!

There are whispers of a one-off special beer to "wet the baby's head" but no firm details yet.

Sales of the usual range are still going well.

I'm planning on a visit later this month to discuss the special to be brewed for Newcastle Beer festival. ...
