Hi all,

am travelling back to London right now for the weekend.

Not been down there since November last year.

Will be rather interesting to see what beer my local wetherspoon's(cap in Hand, Surbiton and the Kings Tun Kinston Upon Thames) has on tap. Damn it forgot my vouchers grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Will post back on monday with my findings whilst heading back to the glorious N.E

Having priced up organic malt and hops to do an organic brew,we were informed that for all the ingredients were organic we could not call the beer an organic beer because that we were not a registered organic producer and to become one would cost the princely sum of £700.00 squids, failing to do so would incur the wrath of Trading Standards but to produce a batch with evil chemicals and duff ingreadients(not that we would) would be fine and dandy.

The enviroment agency have looked into giving our spent grains to the horse and now inform us that it is ok to give it as animal feed ,as brewers have been doing for hundreds of years!! as regarding the compost issue....oh erm I forgot to look into this matter ,I will be in touch was the reply,we wait with baited breath.

Personally I thought it was because the horse could not sign for it, doh!

Hope the grammer and spelling are a bit better this time!!

Another metod we use is to pass on the grains and hops onto local allotment holders who use them for compost.

Again this is not an approved method of dissposal as the grains may seep back into the ground be absorbed by the veg and re-enter the food chain, bare in mind that the grains came from the ground in the first place and have really gone around in a full circle, the same applies to the hops, they have become evil flowers of death,Again ...

Can anyone work this one out?

At the Ship Inn Brewery we have on going issues with a local resident (looney)who from day one was hell bent on getting the brewery closed down. Most weeks we tend to have a visit from some official or another, last week it was the environment agency who came to talk about waste disposal, ie the spent grains and hops.

We normally give the grains to a member of staffs horse for food during the winter months but giving grains to a horse is not an official disposal ...

How COULD a club with a good range of real ales even be considered for Club Of The Year when they denigrate and exploit and exclude wimmin?

Boldon is a well known nest of misogyny, chauvinism and neanderthally.

That Bailey character is coming off as a bit of a gonk, obviously he's a bit miffed but he's letting that colour his judgement.

The current administrator for the cannybevvy forum can't remember the login to change things so we are faced with setting up a new one. Un fortunately it will mean losing all the current posts and everyone having to redo their login details etc.

Two major changes required on the current set up are the 2007 pub of the year needs changing to 2008 and the brewery section needs changing to reflect the current situation re the Ship inn brewery.

Let us know what you think.

Cheers
