I'll be posting up beer and cider list for the Free Trade festival which starts on Friday 24th July. In the meanwhile here's some more information.

I’m told that the ales are going to be offered alphabetically, however the Wentworth beers will be spaced out throughout the weekend, starting with Elderflower on Friday. They aim to have 9 ales on the pumps and will be happy to do cellar runs for others when it's not too busy. The ciders will all be on together, however supply is limited so when they're gone they're gone.

The event will also see the return of live music to the Free Trade.

On Saturday 25th they’ll have some cracking local acts, including Trev Gibb and their very own Lee X. Haley lined up to perform in the very special beer garden, (or inside if it's raining).

The resident foody has been brought in to man the barbecue, but there's no cheap burgers or smartprice sausages in sight with only the finest locally produced fayre on offer. All the meats will be supplied by Stewarts and Co. of Jesmond, and of course there'll be plenty of veggie options and also local kippers for something a bit different.

As well as that the girls from 'Sweet Arts' have been invited along to provide for those with a sweeter tooth. They'll be selling their fresh summer fruit cakes, bakes, puds and generally tasty treats.

All this will be going on from around 2 in the afternoon, with the music finishing at about 7, and then it's down to the business of some serious drinking.

There’s more live music on Sunday night with local legends 'Jon Lee and his Lo Life Drifters' rounding off what it’s hoped will be a very special weekend.
