| | Not since the days of Tony Brookes and The Legendary Yorkshire Hero has the leafy suberb of Jesmond seen the plethora of handpumps that were unleashed on the public yesterday. Situated a short hop across from the Old Archer "As you like it" opened in the old Barclays bank in the Scottish Life house complex just off Sandford Road. Five banks of three handpulls spread over three floors are available in this new gastro pub. However don't all rush at once as there was only Rivet Catcher and Prince Bishop on yesterday. The management are however enthusiastic and more ales may be brought on tap. As it's only a stones throw from work I may have another look later in the week. Door control operatives were in use last night but its not known if they are on every night. And if you don't like the smell of food don't bother going. |

| Thanks to Cider Man (I'm not allowed to use the 'B' word) for looking in here. I'd planned to, but you know how it is.
"As you like it" describes itself as "Jesmond's first gastro pub & terrace".
Their promotional brochure has a picture of Martin (Matt) Hammill of Wylam Brewery in, so I hope we should see some of their beer. |
