| As you may know we are holding a beer festival on the above dates where we intend to serve up over 30 different beers and also numerous ciders. I will only mention for now that just this afternoon I have managed to procure a brand new beer from Marble (International - abv TBC) and also the last barrel of Jaipur XB (5.9) from those lovely people at Thornbridge!!! A full list of beers will be posted on our website (www.newcastlearms.co.uk) the week commencing mon 18th June.
Regards, Barry. |

| How's that going to work then? There probably isn't enough room in the cellar for all the extra beers (I'm led to believe space is often tight under normal circumstances) and running the pipes up to the public area would be a nightmare. I'm guessing the casks will be on scaffold in the corner with a hopefully well regulated cooler to keep them at more or less the right temperature so as to maintain your usual high standards.
Which corner is the "far corner"? Presumably it is the area between the entrance to the ladies and gents toilets, which is going to make cooling the casks interesting (given how warm the pub normally gets in the summer, especially on a calm day even with the doors open) as there would be no easy way to get to the back door from there for the hot air from the cooler to be vented outside.
Anyway I'm sure you'll all do a good job and everything will work great, or failing that we'll have a right laugh as all the heat from the cask- cooler sends the room temperature past 30C and everyone has to drink in the back lane |

| I presume from the content of your sarcastic reply Gareth that you will not be attending our festival on the grounds that the beer will not be sufficiently chilled. Please be assured that all the logistics are in place to ensure that our valued punters are served up an immaculate pint of whatever they choose to order, as is normally the case at the Newcastle Arms.
At least your voluntary absence from our festival will free-up some of our valuable "limited space" for our more positively-minded customers, and may I add that your "guesses/presumptions" are all very wide of the mark. Don't worry about things beyond your control my friend and just let those who actually know what they are doing get on with the task in hand!
I have never barred somebody online before but you certainly make the breach of this presidence ever-so tempting!

| Well as a first posting here (been around a while though as a guest), Just had to join in. Wonder who it is that thinks it can't be done. Has he been barred before? Or maybe just a shandy drinker, tee hee. Yep, it's me, the sleepy one in the corner. . I may be making the odd appearance myself over the festival, as you do of course. |

You presumed incorrectly Barry, as my closing paragraph suggested: "Anyway I'm sure you'll all do a good job and everything will work great, or failing that we'll have a right laugh as all the heat from the cask-cooler sends the room temperature past 30C and everyone has to drink in the back lane ". The point about the room (not cask) temperature was not unreasonable to wonder about given how hot it can get inside even when the front and back doors are open. I know my post was a bit glib but that was because I know the pub and the beers served are always excellent and have chatted with you about the beers countless times, so I assumed you would take it in the good-natured way it was intended. Ah well, I'm certainly not the first person to fall foul of coming across wrongly on a forum.
Provided I don't get myself barred in the meantime, I look forward to sampling quite a few of your beers next week |

| Very good first day from what I heard. The night ended with quite a few happy customers and of course an empty cask of Jaipur.
Very impressed with it. Well done to the staff and all those concerned with the event. Hope to make another appearance myself (as you do) over the course of the weekend. If not then hope everything goes very well and that the festival may run again next year.
Of course, I'll be back in my regular corner next weekend..... |

| Another busy one yesterday and another to be had today. Who knows how long that whisky stout will last. It certainly had it's effect on me after I'd consumed just about everything else yesterday....
Well done to all........ See ya's down the pub! |

| | Well, what a success it was at The Arms. Enjoyed it all the way. The end of the festival doesn't mean the end of the beer either. There are loads more coming in all the time. New seating and a strict No Smoking policy make it pleasant place to be. So get along and enjoy the beer. |
