PostSubject: Flash-based menu on the CannyBevvy site   Sat Aug 08, 2009 1:58 am

The main Canny Bevvy site is generally very good, but a problem for anyone wanting to access it via an iPhone or iPod touch is that the main navigation menu uses Adobe Flash, which is not supported by those devices making it impossible to navigate around most of the site. You can get to this forum though, as it for some reason is not in the Flash menu but only included as a link in part of the homepage content, along with links to a few other parts there.

I fully understand that it is the fault of Apple by blocking the iPhone/iTouch from supporting Flash (unless you void the warranty by jailbreaking it and installing unsupported software), but Flash as the only means of navigation within a website is not considered good practice in general (for instance many desktop browsers require you click once on any Flash content to activate it, and then click a second time on whatever you want to select within it).

It should be pretty straightforwards to replace the flash-menu with an HTML one given that it hasn't been changed for ages (thus the lack of a forum link there). Any chance of it happening? Smile
